Bob Toopes
Bob unexpetedly passed away on Friday, October 16, 2009 at the age of 52. He was a 1975 graduate of Bishop Ready High School, received his undergraduate degree from Capital University and his Master's Degree from the University of Dayton. Bob was a longtime member of St. Matthew the Apostle Church. He was a passionate teacher and coach who dedicated 30 years of his life to the Gahanna, OH School System. He was dedicated to his many students and players whose lives he influenced over the years. Bob was an avid sports fan. He loved the Browns, Indians, Buckeyes, Gahanna Lions, DeSales Stallions and his Monday night golf league. Bob completed the New Albany Half Marathon as a member of the Gahanna Get Moving Team after undergoing a recent hip replacement. He never met a stranger and he had the ability to make everyone around him feel special. He was a loving husband and father. Bob is survived by loving wife of 30 years, Teri Toopes; children, Katie and Ryan (Jaclyn) Toopes, and two grandchildren, William Robert and Jameson Eugene Toopes.
Dave Toopes

Dave, age 63, passed away on September 3, 2016, at home after a three-month battle with brain cancer. Dave was a 1971 graduate of Bishop Ready High School. He then went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Capital University. He played football for both Bishop Ready and Capital University where he served as captain for both teams. He received his Masters in School Administration from The Ohio State University. Dave was a long time member of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church. Dave was always willing to help anyone in need and never forgot his humble beginnings. He was a principal, tacher, and coach at Whitehall City Schools, Upper Arlington, and Pickerinton Local Schools. He always found the good in everyone he taught and coached. Dave loved the Cleveland Indians, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and was a die-hard Clevelenad Browns fan. His life motto was family always comes first and there was nothing Dave enjoyed more than being with family and friends. He loved his Monday night trivia nights and golf league as well as vacationing. He had great memoreis of cruises, ski trips, and even a family trip to the Rose Bowl. He enjoyed walking with the Gahanna Get Moving Team and he completed several half marathons. Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Ruth and his sons Matthew and Jordan Toopes.
